In 2010, thanks to Repair the World's endorsement of the AVF, we can have a greater impact by awarding larger grants. The funds will be used to match grants to AVF projects that encourage young Jews to take social action and contribute to the world through volunteering, as well as projects
that specifically use Jewish learning and values to engage volunteers in social action. Repair the World will also feature AVF projects on their website so alumni-led projects can serve as inspiration to others. Check out the press release on their blog.
The AVF review process will continue as usual, with projects approved by the Alumni Advisory Board and grants awarded twice a year, in May and October. Grants are funded by the BYFI alumni community and awarded to BYFI alumni to fund projects that promote the values of Jewish learning, pluralism, engagement with Israel and social responsibility.
Repair the World aims to build capacity and commitment in Jewish organizations by supporting new and exemplary programs, like the projects funded by the BYFI Alumni Venture Fund. Their mission is to inspire American Jews and their communities to give their time and effort to serve those in need. They're focused not just on bringing more people into service, but also on making the service more meaningful with long-lasting results.
Repair the World's gift is an acknowledgment of the innovative efforts of our community to lead and support meaningful projects through the BYFI Alumni Venture Fund. Together, our community is shaping the Jewish community and wider world and now we can do even more, thanks to Repair the World and you!
